Headcanon- Bulk Biceps and Featherweight

Just a couple of doodles I did that may be one of  the small prints I make for the individual characters, especially since Bulk Biceps seemed to be one of the many I was asked about at my booth. :3 But that’s not the only reason why I drew these two; it’s also because I actually REALLY adore Bulk Biceps and Featherweight. Bulk is adorable, and so is Featherweight, so of course I should make a proper character ref… thing, for them. c:

Alright, so for some headcanon. For those of you who don’t know, Bulk Biceps is the father of Featherweight in my headcanon. Featherweight was the result of an unplanned pregnancy between a young Bulk and his then girlfriend, and while Bulk told her he’d accept any decision she made regarding the foal she ultimately decided to just carry the foal to term instead of having an abortion. That said, however, while she didn’t have the abortion she may as well tried to have terminated the pregnancy herself; she heavily smoked and drank while pregnant and ultimately didn’t take care of herself (despite Bulk’s pleas for her to do so). This ultimately resulted in little Featherweight being born premature, very sickly and small. But regardless, the first time Bulk held his son, he knew he’d do anything to keep him healthy, happy, and safe.

Bulk Biceps took on his new role as a father whole-heartedly, however the mother simply couldn’t care less about either of them. She saw both as a hitch in her life, and basically ditched her boyfriend and her newborn foal to do whatever the hell she wanted. The only times she ever came back to the apartment was to sleep, and that was far and few inbetween chances. Finally, after months of trying to put up with her unresponsible habits and neglecting their son, Bulk Biceps demanded that she leave, which she did. That left him with poor little Featherweight to raise on his own.

Equestria has a financial system in an attempt to help out single parents, but even with that extra money struggles was seen. Bulk did a lot of job hopping (the jobs he found payed either too little or asked for him to be away from home for too long), sometimes going without meals to pay bills and buy the nutrients and supplies needed for taking care of his son, and of course other sorts of hardships that came with being a single parent.

But despite it all, Bulk found himself at his happiest with the little foal. And of course, he didn’t go through it completely alone; his best buddy Thunderlane would help out by watching little Featherweight when he babysat his own baby brother, as well as help him look for suitable jobs.

Nowadays, everything is much better. Bulk Biceps managed to find a decent job that had flexible hours, he found a better apartment (his previous landlord was an asshole, the new one’s a sweetheart), and best of all, Featherweight grew stronger every day until, eventually, the supplements weren’t needed (the colt still has asthma, but it’s exercised induced and easier to manage if he keeps himself healthy).

So here we see Featherweight as a teenager. Happy, healthy (if a bit thin) and doing what he loves; photography. Featherweight’s just as much as a sweetheart like his dad is, but he’s perhaps a little more outgoing than Bulk is. He’s smart as a whip and is surprisingly a good runner, despite his asthma, but his real passion lies within photography. He once thought he’d dissappoint his dad because of this (weightlifting kinda runs in the family, but Bulk’s physical strength wasn’t passed to Feather), but he quickly found out that he needn’t worry; Bulk more than willing to support whatever his son wants to do for a career if it makes him happy.

Featherweight and Bulk Biceps have a strong relationship with one another; they’re the best of buds, they are. C:
