The Apples

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand here we are! Went ahead and uploaded this because I don't need to find a way to scan it since it was already on the computer itself. C: So!

Here we have the redo of my old old OLD deviation, The Apple Family.

So, I arranged the family to be from biggest/tallest to shortest/smallest. That would be Hard Cider (father), Big Macintosh, Applejack, Peach Velvet (mother), Agetha "Granny" Smith, and Applebloom.

You guys finally get to see the way I picture the parents' colors. :3 I've always seen it as Big Mac inheriting his mother's colors, AJ being a mix of the two, and AB getting her father's colors (just without the markings.)

But enough about that. Onwards to my headcanon! 8D


The way I see it, Hard Cider (nicknamed "Chief") is the son of Granny Smith, and the eldest among five brothers and sisters (three younger sisters, one younger brother). At some point, around the time he was old enough to buck apples and his twin siblings were born, his father suddenly upped and left, leaving Granny Smith to raise all of the kids on her own. Hard Cider soon took up responsibility after that, making him the "stallion of the house". He helped his mother feed and dress his younger siblings for school as well as escort them there, helped them with homework, worked out in the fields often, all the while balancing his own school work. And of course, relatives helped them through the hard times (including Chief's father's parents; they definitely didn't agree with what their son did to the family), but that didn't stop the colt from eventually dropping out of high school so he could better support his family (despite the relatives help, they weren't able to be there all the time, no matter how hard they tried).

These events led Hard Cider to be a strict, down to earth, straight forward and blunt sort of guy, sometimes forgetting how to just sit down and relax. He also has a protective streak towards his mother and siblings.

As for Peach Velvet, she's a mare from the renowned and sophisticated Orange Family in Manehatten, the younger sister to Mosely Orange (the canon name for Uncle Orange). Not quite a girly girl, but not quite a tomboy either, she wasn't all that interested to the precise and up-classed life, often seen in less-wealthy areas to help out however she could. Eventually she opened up her own bakery, known for her delicious pies and cakes, especially her peach-based ones.

The way I see her, she's playful, very easy-going, and all kinds of a flirt. It's mostly only playful and harmless, though. At least, until she met good ol' Hard Cider, one of the only stallions who barely batted an eye when he first met her in Manehatten.

Of course we know that, over the course of his visits to the city (always for business), she eventually won him over with her charms, and began courting each other for a while before the ol' boy popped the question. They were married, she moved so she can live on the farm with him, blah blah blah, happy ending. I'd think Granny Smith would love her daughter-in-law because she mellowed out Hard Cider's workaholic tendencies and made him become more relaxed.

As for how they eventually died... I have two separate headcanons for it. One has the mother as the one to die first, due to complications with birthing little Applebloom. Hard Cider stayed strong for as long as he could for his children, but eventually his heartbreak caught up with him, and he fell ill, soon dying after that.

The other has Hard Cider dying first, fending off an attack (wild animals or burglars, your pick) to protect his family. He won, but it mortally wounded him, and he was dead before the medical help reached him. Peach Velvet shortly gave birth to Applebloom (who was born two months before her due date). At first things were beginning to look up, but it went downhill after Peach had an accident while delivering goods to the neighboring town. :C

So sorry for my ramblings, and sorry if some of it seems weird and such. I'm tired... that's what I get for staying up all day and night. T.T Oh well...
