Pegasus Brothers Concept

EDIT: Added their cutie marks

Alrighty, another update for Requiem. But this time, instead of it being of canon characters, these two are OCs we're gonna use for a good portion of the story.

Everyone, meet the twins, Tempest (older and bigger twin) and Hurricane(smaller and younger twin). This is the first time I've attempted to flesh them out, so for now their designs are considered concepts. Still, I wanted something a little more... natural in color for them because they aren't native to Equestria, so this is the result. I know it's hard to tell, too, but they actually are identical, but it's easy to tell them apart due to their size difference and coloring. I learned a while ago that, just because identical twins use the same DNA, it doesn't mean they use them the exact same way, so I applied that to these two.

That's why one's bigger and furrier than the other, and why they're different colors: It's the same color palette, only used differently. o3o

I really like them myself, but I wanna see what thinks of it as well. c:

**Now, before any of you ask about the wing difference, I'll explain it. In my headcanon AND in Requiem, it's just as possible for a pegasus to be born with bat wings as it is for the pegasus to be born with bird wings. Bird wings are simply a dominant trait in Pegasi, were as the bat wings are a recessive trait. Which means:

bb= Bat wings

NO, they DO NOT have to be a part of Luna's guard to have bat wings!! And no, ponies with bat wings do not automatically work in Luna's Night Guard, either. B|


But yeah. Along with Vinyl Scratch and another OC Willow Bark (not yet shown), these two will accompany Twilight on her mission to Ponyville. They're the source of light-hearted bantering and quick-tongued quips to the rest of the cast; they're the type of siblings that can finish each other's sentences without missing a beat, and they speak with an accent native to where they come from (not sure of the name of the place yet). Despite their tendency to joke around, they're very effective in combat. Their fighting style revolves a bit around tag-team; I think their combat moves would be so in-sync that you'd think they've rehearsed. They also have more distinct fangs, too. o3o

They'd be a part of the Royal Guard, pegasus division, Scout squad.

Now, a little about the twins:

-Tempest would probably be the more level-headed of the brothers, and being the oldest (by mere minutes) gives him a sense of authority sometimes around his little brother. Like many older siblings out there, he'd feel like he's responsible for taking care of his brother, especially because of their profession and circumstances. Low talking and more prone to assess the situation instead of jumping to conclusions, he's a powerful flier with the tendency to be on the ground just as much as he is in air. His special talent revolves around being a blacksmith, before he joined the military. Tempest's cutie mark is the combination of an anvil, a hammer, giant pliers, and a horseshoe; based off of Skyrim's sign for the Blacksmith's shops. C: Tempest gained his name because, as a colt, he constantly flapped his wings, even when he couldn't fly yet.


-Hurricane would be the more brash and fast-talking of the twins, often taking the policy "leap first, ask later" quite literally. That's not to say that he's stupid, though; Hurricane is just as capable of figuring out any situation as his brother can, his approach is simply different. Despite being a tad younger and his tendency to lightly banter with Tempest, he's relatively protective of his brother. Very agile and quick, his special talent revolves around being a Weather Pony, particularly very skilled in wind control. Hurricane's cutie mark is based off of two hurricane signs, one in the middle and the other circling around it. Truth be told, it's only a mere coincidence that his cutie mark matches his name; his parents named him Hurricane because he always liked to run in circles at a fast rate while on a cloud. The same happened once he learned how to fly. c:

Thanks to Adalbertus, we have their backstory! :3 Here it is:

Tempest and Hurricane lost their parents at an early age and were shipped off to an orphanage. Their country has a policy that doesn't allow separation of siblings if they were to be adopted, so they ultimately weren't adopted due to potential parent candidates not wanting twins. The two remember very little of their parents, only that one of them was originally from Equestria, among a few other little snippets and such they remember them by.

When they finally grew old enough, the twins used what little money they had to buy tickets to Equestria, where they tried to make a living for themselves. Tempest became the apprentice of a blacksmith while Hurricane tried his hoof at joining the Weather team of the small town they settled down in (NOT Ponyville). This is where they finally earned their cutie marks, although gaining their cutie marks was definitely one of the farthest things in their minds as colts.

A little after they settled into their new life, Hurricane found out the Equestrian Military were recruiting and decided to join, due to being on the Weather Team be a bit too dull for him. Tempest, not wanting his brother to go it alone, joined as well. Due to how they performed during military training and how they interacted with one another during their first few assignments, the two were offered the chance to transfer into the Royal Guard. The two accepted and remained in the same squad with one another, and after a few successful missions, they were perfect candidates for joining Twilight on her mission to Ponyville.
