EDIT: The story plot for this image no longer fits the current plot that has been paved for Requiem, so I took it down. I may end up making up something else to fit this particular image. o3o

A conceptual speedpainting I did of Spike and Twilight for my "What If..." series, this time of the War/Military theme. It may very well end up it's Title cover. o3o

Anyway, this is for the story idea I had called "No Requiem for Soldiers". I rewrote the short story above to better fit the plot I'm currently leaning toward, and so far the idea is really working in terms of allowing several possibilities to jump out at me. :3 So I suppose this could act more as a possible beginning to the story.

That said, I really like how this came out; Spike is definitely a lot of fun to draw as a young adult. In my mind, he's this size when he's nearing full adulthood but not quite there, so he'll eventually grow to be bigger than what he already is. I'm heavily contemplating on saying whether or not he's grown so fast because of his bond with Twilight (Possibly having a bit of her magic unconsciously being channeled into him, resulting in his fast growth) and maybe even having that as a little subplot in itself; dragons bonding with other beings, and Spike being the first to actually successfully do so in a looooooong time.

And Twilight Sparkle? She's always fun to draw, but this was a ton of fun to do. xD I took some inspiration from her Future appearance and this is the result; instead of a spiked mane, I gave her much longer hair she keeps in a loose ponytail, her eye is permanently scarred, and she has a few scars all over her body (most of which is covered by her fur). Her outfit isn't all that elaborate either; I'd figure that, living in a world similar to Skyrim, one would much rather something more practical. Besides, Twi seems like the type to value practical over elaborate and showy, anyhow. o3o

I could also see her being a bit more willing to curse if her mood is on the sour side while being a solider. xD

But yeah. Until I have something more to say, I'll just leave it at that. :3
