Alrighty, so the recent question I received on my tumblr had me inspired to do some quick concept doodle… things, of how I see some of the oldest living dragons of Gaia. I only did three at the moment but I may do more in the future… we’ll see. O: This also means I'll be doing a sketchdump for my headcanon on dragons in general, so keep an eye out. ;D

But in the meantime, some quick headcanon on Dragon culture and a bit of info on these three:

Dragons in Gaia are sapient beings and how they look and function vary widely; there are dragons of all kinds, ranging from waterbased to ground-based, but all dragons have magic. Technically, dragons don’t have a government to speak of, nor do they have a particular country of their own. That said, they are spread out all over the world and while many of them may like solitude, many are a part of clans that have different cultures and customs. Once a year, many dragon clans and individuals come together during the Great Dragon Migration, a time where they travel to a specific area to, not just to find potential mates or companions, but to have a council/annual meeting between significant dragon clans on neutral grounds.

If there’s one thing nearly all dragons have in common, however, it’s that they pretty much worship the 17 Dragon Gods. These dragons are the world’s oldest dragons, some of which belong to long-extinct species of dragon, and as such their wisdom, magical prowess, and long-lived experience with the is revered by their kin. The dragons featured here are, from left to right, Kecshtã (the tiny one), Dromeir (the long one), and Tuulak'Rah (the huge one):

Tuulak'Rah:
Tuulak’Rah in the dragon old tongue could roughly mean either “nothingness” or “origin”, depending on the translation. This dragon is a mystery, even to Their own kin: They’re genderless, and when They speak it’s with two voices: female and male. They refer to Themselves with plural pronouns and is speculated to be, not only THE oldest and largest dragon, but one of the oldest living creatures of Gaia. Tuulak'Rah is so powerful magic pulses along Their markings, and They give off an aura that is so thick it’s nearly tangible. It is because of all of this that They are referred to as the “Lord of All Dragons”, and as such Their pronouns are capitalized. While being able to fly, Tuulak'Rah dwells deep within the ocean and can sometimes be spotted simply swimming off in the distance, content to live Their life peacefully and not meddle in worldly affairs. They are the last of the Leviathan dragon species.

Dromeir:
Dromeir in the old tongue roughly means “one who breath’s steam”, appropriate given that this ancient dragon has steam billowing from its skin whenever he gets wet due to the intense heat his body can give off. Dromeir isn’t the last of his species however it’s a rare one, and he is the longest dragon to exist. This dragon’s magic revolves around heat and if he wants he can start wildfires by simply rising his body temperature. Like Tuulak'Rah, he prefers to simply stay out of the affairs of the world however he is more social in that he often will take part in the Great Dragon Migration.

Kecshtã:
Kecshtã in the old tongue means either “flow” or “Galewinds” depending on the translation. This dragon is one of the smaller ones of the 17 “Gods”, however she is the fastest. She is often associated to “The Hunt” for dragons. Her species is actually plentiful however she is the largest of them, and her coloring is unusual in that they consist of browns and greys instead of the usual sandy or bright colors of her kin. She is as sociable as Dromeir is, however she doesn’t participate in the Great Dragon Migration as often. Instead she likes to travel around the world and randomly visit different clans; this practice is the base of the belief that, if Kecshtã visits your clan, The Hunt will be a far more bountiful affair.

Aaaaaaand there ya go. I put the silluoette of Celestia to show just how large these three are, although I may adjust how large they are as I develop them further. But because of the nature of how this deviation is set up, if you want to see a better and closer image of the dragons just go HERE. If you have any questions feel free to ask! c:
