WIP- Just Like You

"Lookit sis! Lookit! The hat's beginnin' ta fit!"

"That right, ya lil' varmint?"

Applebloom nodded her head vigorously, making the hat upon her head fall and droop right over her eyes. She pushed the stetson back up and looked at her sister with a wide, confident grin.

"Yep! Ah'm gettin' bigger. And when I get big, Ah wanna be just like you!"

Applejack smiled as she watched the hat fall back over her sisters eyes, but she was somewhat distracted as her thoughts itched against her head. Memories danced and chimed in her ears, of times way back when she herself was a filly. Back when Applebloom hadn't even been conceived.

A time where it had been Applejack clambering all over her father's back as if he were a living playground, proudly wearing a hat far far too big for herself and just the right fit for the large stallion she climbed on. He had been laughing at her and calling her a little varmint, his little varmint.  And just like Applebloom, she had puffed out chest and proudly declared "When Ah get big, Ah'ma be just like you, Pa!" And all he did was grin widely at her and tipped the hat back when it fell over her eyes for the umpteenth time, giving a little huff of laughter.

Applejack blinked and stared as her sister made a sound, the hat engulfing half of her face. The workhorse's smile morphed into a grin, albeit a soft one, and she leaned over so she could nudge the stetson back with her muzzle. The filly beamed when the hat was replaced atop of her head.

"Just like me, huh?"

"Yup!"

Applejack only shook her head gently before giving Applebloom an affectionate bump on the nose. Applebloom giggled and swatted at her muzzle, and the workhorse gave an amused nicker in response.

"Heh."

Ignore the story thuuur, because... my god, I really REALLY need to begin practicing writing again. Eh. I suppose I have to... restart somewhere. :/

So, uh, I was waiting for one of my prints to dry up in Photography class, aaaand I definitely began doodling (what's new?) This is one of those doodles, and I kinda like it. Almost enough to maybe make a full image out of it with color and such. What do you guys think? O:

But yeah, the Apple Sisters loafing around, with a slightly older AB telling big sister Jackie whom she aspires to be like one day; her.

I love the dynamic of these two's relationship. Let's face it, it's absolutely adorable, like most of the sibling relationships we have in this show.

What I really like about it, though, is Applejack feels like a mix between a mother and sister (at least, to me it does). I dunno if it's canon or not, but I personally have the headcanon that Applebloom was far too young to remember her mother, and her father was dead a few months before she was born. So Big Mac, Applejack, and Granny Smith obviously raised her, and in each of them, I can see AB seeing a parental figure in them as well as what they technically are to her (bro, sis, grandma). So yeah. Adorableness. C:

Also, AJ is wearing a bandanna because it looks good on her. Basically, this whole doodle was nothing more than me wanting to draw something cute. o3o
