Description

Now here we are with the ever so lovable Fluttershy! C: If there's one thing I love about Fluttershy, it's her color scheme. All of the Mane 6 has beautiful colors, but there's just something very endearing about Fluttershy's butter yellow and gentle pink. I don't even know. I especially love her eye color. o3o

But yeah. Let's go on to dah headcanonz! c:

Like I said with RD, she, Rarity, and Dashie are all just about the same height. It's just their body differences that make it seem like one's taller or shorter than the other. That said, Fluttershy's body is unique in that she has a very slender physique. Long legs, long neck, small hooves; her form is very deer-like, to the point to where sometimes she's likened to that of an alicorn. This makes her the natural picture of an idealized model. Not that it matters much to her.

Fluttershy, of the three of the Mane 6 to have wings, has the longest. Her wings are very long and very narrow, built specifically for endurance flight, especially over waters. Her grandparents were coastal ponies where such wings were common, due to living on the islands. So while she isn't necessarily a weak flyer (NOW, anyway. She was a weak flyer when she was younger), she isn't conditioned to fly with the speed or power the pegasi of Cloudsdale and Ponyville tend to excel at. Her having an earth pony mother has nothing to do with it, however she does gain her affinity for the ground from Posey.

What's interesting about Fluttershy is, in my headcanon, she's the one to have the most scars. Dealing with wild animals, despite her unique ability to communicate and connect with them, is bound to sometimes end up dangerous. Despite how much she loves her animal friends, Fluttershy isn't naive; she knows they are still capable of harming her. Her ability to use The Stare, as well as her shy charm, is usually enough to tame a wild beast, but sometimes it isn't immediate. And there have been instances where she's been attacked. For the most part, however, these instances usually come from when the animal is wounded and confused due to pain, lashing out out of instinct instead of actually meaning it.

The claw marks on her hind leg came from the bear we see from the canon show, something he still feels guilt over. The bite mark on her front leg comes from an abused pet she tried to coax out of hiding (didn't work the first time, but she eventually convinced it).The scars on her side are from smaller incidents, but the cuts were deep enough to leave a noticeable mark on her body.

In addition, her taking care and working with carnivorous animals leaves her with intimate knowledge on how to hunt, fish, and properly field dress a kill. As such (as well as her having to deal with animals that were injured), blood doesn't really bother her all that much, especially if she's "in the zone" or in her mothering/healing mindset.

Also! Folks have asked me about my headcanon on The Stare, so here it is:

This ability is uniquely Fluttershy's. There is no other known pony documented to have been able to do this. The Stare itself is linked to Fluttershy's magic; a mix of will power as well as tapping into her inherent magic reserves in order to perform the move, directing it with her eyes. You can tell when she's actually using the ability when her irises begin to give a faint glow, somewhat like that of the magic surrounding a unicorn's horn when in use. The move works somewhat like the stare of a cobra, however it's far more direct, intimidating, and intimate. It compels obedience and fear within whatever subject Shy uses it against, and has been known to work on both small and large creatures equally; the ability can be altered to varying degrees of intensity as well, from a full on Stare to maybe just the barest hint of magic in her normal glare. There has yet to be an instance where a full blown Stare has not worked. Shy, however, doesn't use that level of the Stare often.

And that's all for now, I think.

As always, feel free to ask me questions if you have any of them. And thanks a bunch for stopping by to take a look! C:

Her work with carnivorous animals? Does that explain the scars on her body?
