Collide

This is one of the 6 painting projects I have to do for my watercolor class. The first one I chose to do is the one where we got to choose our own subject. C:

So, I chose a very very old character of mine, Muladhara.

Muladhara is an earth fairy that embodies the changes the seasons go through. Here, it's changing from fall to winter, and her body is changing along with it, as well as the element she can control. Her skin is no longer a dark tan/coffee brown and is instead paler, her markings are blue instead of red or green, her wings are becoming white, and her hair is growing out the brown to become white as well. Her element now helps the seasonal change go smoothly; the water is turning into ice around her submerged feet, the flower she's holding is closing up, and so on.

I decided to portray that with a lighter, gentle sort of coloring. I had a lot of fun, too, but the original looks better than the scan; the scanned version lost a bit of its contrast. :C Aw well....

Muladhara herself has undergone a few changes, namely in her tattoo markings and overall appearance in her face. The wings are still made of spider legs and spiderwebs, only now they create a sheen over the connected web in order to gain a thin and very translucent membrane so she can fly.

Buuuut.... yeah. I'm tired. This was the only one due today, so after I turn this sucker in it's nap time then back to commissions. C:
